Phase
I Environmental Assessments:
While our goal is to provide flexibility in the scope of our site assessments, most projects consist
of a standard Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA 1). Our ESA's are performed in accordance with the American Society
for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard Practice for environmental site assessment services. This standard was established
to provide an acceptable, industry-wide method for conducting Phase I assessments, which will satisfy the due diligence
requirement of the innocent landowner defense to CERCLA liability. Brickhouse Environmental has an experienced staff able
to perform a variety of Phase I Environmental Assessments from small commercial properties to full industrial manufacturing
plants.
Phase II Environmental Assessments:

A Phase II Environmental assessment often begins with a Phase I assessment that has revealed conditions that
require further investigation. If an environmental hazard is identified or if a known hazard exists based on past usage, a
Phase II ESA will evaluate suspect areas identified on the subject property. Typically, soil samples are collected using hand
augers, a Geoprobe®, and/or a drilling rig. If necessary, groundwater samples are collected from borings or permanent
monitoring wells located on the subject property. Samples are preserved and shipped to a laboratory according to standard
industry methods. Drawing from the experience of a diversified staff of geologists, engineers, chemists, and soil scientists,
we have provided our clients with prompt response, sound technical evaluations, and results that meet their Phase II due diligence
needs.
Asbestos Surveys

Brickhouse Environmental can perform a limited visual asbestos survey in conjunction with a Phase I Environmental
Assessment, or a full asbestos survey including the collection of samples for analysis. Brickhouse Environmental has on staff
two certified Pennsylvania Asbestos Building Inspectors, one certified Pennsylvania Asbestos Supervisor/Contractor, and one
certified Pennsylvania Asbestos Management Planner. Brickhouse Environmental’s experienced professionals can assist
you through any size asbestos survey, from residential homes up to industrial manufacturing plants.
Underground Tank Locating and Testing

About 640,000 underground storage tanks (USTs) nationwide store petroleum or hazardous substances that can
harm the environment and human health if the USTs release their stored contents. Until the mid-1980s, most USTs were made
of bare steel, which is likely to corrode over time and allow UST contents to leak into the environment. Therefore, as part
of due diligence process, it is vital that USTs are identified and located. Brickhouse Environmental can assist with locating
and testing known or suspected USTs and provide the necessary advice and support when a USTs integrity has been compromised.
